Product Review: Stella and Chewy's Superblends.

Happy New Year good pups and peeps of Blogville! Macy Blue here with a last minute product review. We would have been earlier but...Mom's old 'puter and new 'puter were not talking to one another and Momma is nearly BALD!

OK, Mom the year is wasting away...what did Chewy.com send me this month?

They sent some Stella and Chewy Meal Mixer Superblends:

I'm not sure what a superblend is...but if it's from the nice folks at Chewy, I'm game! Let's get to it!

It's a topper for your foodables Macy...or you can eat it like a whole meal...user's choice.

So I started your supper just like normal but used about a 1/4 less food...

LESS FOOD???? NOOOOOoooo!

MB, it's a "topper"... I subtracted 1/4 cup so I could ADD a 1/4 cup of the Stella and Chewy's Superblends....

Oh... Make sure it's the right amount Mom....

I did, MB! Then we mix it in....
Whatcha think Macy Blue??

Back to the Ms. Macy Blue:

I can say that was deeeelish Mom! So...can we get MORE???

Well... it's kinda expensive, coming in at more than $2 an ounce!

There goes Princess Pocketbook again!

Well, I find this similar in quality to other freeze dried foods we've tried and some of those are around .55 cents per ounce....So I would rather get you those.

Ugh! What ever MOM!

I still give Stella and Chewy's Superblends FOUR PAWS UP! Princess Pocketbook is still looking for  a crowbar to jam in her wallet and is unable to vote!

Siri-ously

You know, the next time I adopt a dog, one I things I'm going to do BEFORE deciding on a name, is talk-to-text the choices into my phone.  Why??? Because Siri is an idiot.

Case in point is my real life pal Otto Rotto over at RottRover. When ever we text, Siri slaughters his name. Luckily we all "speak" Siri...for the most part.

Allow me to translate that. I deliberately picked words I knew Siri would have issues with for that picture.

Can Otto come out and play? We could see if the Tujunga river is flowing or head over to La Canada (pronounced "la canYADA) and try out the Hahamongna ....

Siri has so many names for Otto... we have a running list of mishaps with his name. The freakiest one ever was Auto-erotica! Ewe!

Besides auto, Siri has called him automotive,  auto rocket, auto-rotation, autoroute, and...Oral... It's why I picture Siri as a hard of hearing woman who has had too much to drink.

Big Bones

I ran across this pic of Puppy Lou (a/k/a Mabel Lou, the Queen Bitch of Everything)  with a huge bone I had waiting for her the day I brought her home from K-9 jail.

And... one I got for Macy... they have different techniques for sure.
As bones to chew on go, this girl has bit off more than she can chew! Teachers work such LONG hours! Who knew??? Add in that I teach special ed and am expected to work on legal documents pertaining to my students' education that can take 27 - 30 hours each on my own time AND that I'm in a graduate level program to earn my teaching credential... and you will know why I say I'm a terrible pet mom!

I have honestly asked myself if Macy would be better off living with the RottRovers... and while the Pro and Con sheet was mostly yes... I selfishly have decided I need her for my own mental health. I'm in over my head and feel like I'm sinking more every day... and my girl is the best part of my life. I never dreamed I'd be leaving her for so long teaching school! My heart aches for her. And when I'm home...I'm not here... always working on my laptop. Which may explain why I'm not blogging much. I try to give Macy the most I can!

I hope all of you are well.

Product Review: Wellness Core Grain Free Turkey, Chicken Liver and Turkey Liver

Hello good people and pups of Blogville! Macy Blue here.  I'm just sittin' here all embarrassified...

It's not that we are last-minute-Lucys getting our Chewy.com review done.. That's par for the course around here. It's that my mom is gone so much with her new job, we had to take these pictures at the bum-crack of dawn! I'm barely awake! It's so hard being a Diva when your mom has a stupid teaching job and is gone from home 10 hours a day! And don't even look at our caca green pool...she has no time to clean that either! Harumph! I hang my head in shame!

Hey Macy Blue? Wanna try some Wellness Core Grain Free Turkey, Chicken Liver and Turkey Liver canned food?

Did you say foodables Mom???? Bring it on!!

Oh Nom Nom!!! Momma, I need MORE! Let's show them how it looks while you make your blue words!

Creekhiker here. Another winner from Chewy! My biggest complaint is the cans need a can opener...took me 5 minutes to find one! (I'm so spoiled with those pop open cans!)

But other than that, Wellness Core Grain Free Turkey, Chicken Liver and Turkey Liver is a top quality product.

Here are the ingredients from the Chewy.com website:
Chicken, Turkey, Chicken Liver, Chicken Broth, Chicken Meal, Turkey Liver, Sweet Potatoes, Carrageenan, Guar Gum, Carrots, Apples, Spinach, Parsley, Blueberries, Broccoli, Kale, Ground Flaxseed, Salmon Oil, Salt, Chicory Root Extract, Yucca Schidigera Extract, Potassium Chloride, Iron Proteinate, Zinc Proteinate, Choline Chloride, Vitamin E Supplement, Cobalt Proteinate, Copper Proteinate, Manganese Proteinate, Riboflavin Supplement, Sodium Selenite, Thiamine Mononitrate, Vitamin A Supplement, Vitamin B-12 Supplement, Potassium Iodide, Biotin, Vitamin D-3 Supplement.
And...because we are always on a tight budget, this food is about $5  a case more than our regular brand but that's within the range I would splurge on. Take it away Macy Blue.

It's a good thing I'm licking that fork still Momma...that was you can't hear me laughing! Did you folks catch that? Momma said "splurge!" Like she knows what that is! BOL!

I give Wellness Core Grain Free Turkey, Chicken Liver and Turkey Liver four paws up!

Product Review: Purina Pro Plan Tender Strips

Hello good pups and peeps of Blogville! Macy Blue here is with another Chewy.com product review. I've been a bit bored with Mean Old Momma gone so much so I thought it would be fun to share my Chewy bounty with a friend! I got M.O.M. to take me over to Otto Rotto's house to review Purina Pro Plan Tender Strips.

Isn't Otto Rotto the most handsome dude???  We're waiting for Auntie to give us a sample!

Just look at his eyes! I think he likes it!!! O.K. Auntie...MY turn!

I have to JUMP for mine...I'm kinda short compared to Otto Rotto.

Just lookie at Otto...he wants more! So do I!

It's official! Otto really loves them! O.K. we're going to chew a bit and let my M.O.M. tell you about the 'greient stuffs:

Creekhiker here. I must admit, I was hesitant when we were asked to review these. This brand is not known for its top notch ingredients often using corn as the number one in every product I've considered. But I checked the ingredients before agreeing and was very surprised!

Lamb, Ground Wheat, Wheat Flour, Soy Flour, Brewer's Rice, Rice Flour, Glycerin, Sugar, Dried Sweet Potatoes, Water, Salt, Malted Barley Flour, Sorbic Acid (a Preservative), Phosphoric Acid, Natural Smoke Flavor, Garlic Powder, Calcium Propionate (a Preservative), and Preserved with Mixed Tocopherols (Form of Vitamin E).

I must admit, they smell awesome! And...the pups went crazeballs for them! And the price is fair!

Wait! Did Princess Pocketbook just say I could get more of these??? Is the world spinning  backwards??? Did you hear that Otto??

 Oh....he's just fixated.

Hey Look!!! Spike is out!!! (Spike is Otto's next door neighbor that we all love so much!!! She's the sweetest!) Let's share with her Otto!

Hey Spkie! You like it!!!

Awww... look at that face!!! We love our Spike girl!!! O.K. Big Guy, let's go play...

Otto??? OTTO???? Oh gee...this could take a while. I better wrap it up.

Me, Otto and Spike give Purina Pro Plan Tender Strips  12 paws up!

Tough as Nails / Smarter Than Expected

For those of you who aren't aware, my family went missing this week in the Louisiana Flood. It was a gut wrenching 24 hours before I, along with my niece, finally found my brother-in-law only to find that when he went in a rescuer's boat to get my mom, she was not home! We spent Monday thinking that she had been rescued with neighbors and trying helplessly to find which of the many shelters she had been taken to...Red Cross' Safe and Well Website is a freaking joke!

To make matters worse, I started my new job teaching in an emotionally disturbed classroom and could not work the phones during the day. By Monday afternoon, I found out Mom was rescued...but not on Sunday as I had thought. We still have no idea where she was when my brother-in-law and the Cajun Navy went to look for her! But Monday, a deputy from another parish was volunteering on his day off and Mom stopped them to ask if they could boat down to the back of her property where the water was waist deep to get her trash can that floated away...she needed to clean now that the 2' in her house was receding! They made her leave the house.

She spent a cold night in the Centroplex River Center (concert hall) and by this morning, she had someone find my number and they were begging me to get my brother -in-law to come get her. (His truck was still trapped at his house.) My little cousin was already on the way and the lady on the phone seemed relieved!

Mom is safe and sound and anxious to get to to work on rebuilding her house! Not bad for 93!

Here she is on her river boat cruise down her street:

Mom is just amazing... and one tough broad!
--------------------------------------
With me being in teacher training and driving to school 3 hours a day all summer (12 hours a day away from home! UGH!) Macy Blue has been getting the short end of the stick!

With the stress of so many friends and family losing homes this week and the search for Mom and the brother in law and starting a new job...I was just spent when I walked Macy last night. I had taken her to a park over the mountain about six miles because the ocean breezes flow up that canyon. It was 90 something at 6:30 on my porch and I swear it was around 80 there!

My feet were killing me as well as my back and knees. I cut our walk short by about 2/3.  It was still blazing hot tonight and I decided a repeat was in order.

We arrived at the park and I started toward the gate where we always start. Only Macy would NOT budge. No... she wanted to go the way we usually come out of the park! Wha????

I realized, she was making certain that she got her WHOLE hike...not the short version she got the night before!

That, my friends, is the smartest thing Miss Blue has ever done!

Product Review: Blue Buffalo Wilderness Alligator & Catfish Canned Dog Food

Hello good pups and peeps of Blogville! Hope this finds you well! I'm back with a review for the most pawsome Chewy.com. I've been on my own so much this past month, if we didn't have Chewy Autoship, I would have starved! ...but that's another story!

O.K.  M.O.M. (stands for Mean Old Momma!), what'd Chewy send me???

You are reviewing Blue Buffalo Wilderness Bayou Blend with Alligator and Catfish Grain-Free Canned Dog Food Macy Blue.

Hey, didn't we just review their Alligator and Catfish Biscuits?

Yes we did, MB! Good Memory! This is what the can looks like:

And the food:

I never forget a good biscuit M.O.M.! So... what are we waiting for??? Let the puppy taste it! Let the puppy taste it!

WOWZERS! That's good stuff!!!

O.K. M.O.M. do your 'gredient bit...

Creekhiker here. Here are the ingredients from the Chewy website:
Alligator, Chicken Broth, Chicken, Potatoes, Water, Whitefish, Chicken Liver, Turkey, Catfish, Pea Flour, Dried Egg, Pea Protein, Shrimp, Guar Gum, Sunflower Oil, Salt, Potassium Chloride, Carrageenan, Cassia Gum, Choline Chloride, Zinc Amino Acid Chelate, Iron Amino Acid Chelate, Thiamine Mononitrate (Vitamin B1), Vitamin E Supplement, Copper Amino Acid Chelate, Manganese Amino Acid Chelate, Sodium Selenite, Cobalt Amino Acid Chelate, Niacin Supplement (Vitamin B3), Calcium Pantothenate (Vitamin B5), Vitamin A Supplement, Riboflavin Supplement (Vitamin B2), Biotin (Vitamin B7), Vitamin B12 Supplement, Potassium Iodide, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride (Vitamin B6), Vitamin D3 Supplement, Folic Acid (Vitamin B9).
Blue Buffalo makes really quality products but... if it has more chicken broth, chicken, potatoes, water, whitefish, chicken liver and turkey than catfish, why does Catfish get top billing?? Things like that just bug me.

That being said, it is a quality food and Macy likes it. It is $3.08 per 12.5 oz. can at this time.  The exotic flavors of our regular brand (I used rabbit and wild salmon for comparison) are $2.72 / 13 oz. can so price wise, it's in the same wheelhouse. I do buy about 8 cases of food at a stretch and then organize the flats so every 9th can is the same food. I don't like eating the same food every day so why should my dog? So, I would probably work this into Macy's rotation.

I always mix the can food with Macy's liquid Glucosamine ...
and then I add warm water and kibble.

Here's the girl enjoying her meal:

And.. ALL GONE!

Oh...MY....DOG!!! Did Princess Pocketbook just say she's buy me some of this???? Whooooo Hoooo! Score!

Well, I sure give it four paws up!!!!
